Morning Announcements

Monday June 16

• Reminder to be good stewards of the Earth. Please do not climb or pick at the newly planted trees, stay off the newly laid grass, and leave the bunnies and geese alone in the field. Please stay out of the Kindergarten garden too.
• Any grade 9 students who volunteered to help out with the Farewell mass, you have a meeting in Mr. Fairfield’s room TODAY at 12:05pm
• Today is the final day to turn in band instrument rental forms to the music department.  Instruments will be ready for pick up starting Thursday, June 19 after the last exam.
• The Slo-Pitch Team wrap-up party and team picture are tomorrow from 11:30-12:30. Athletes are reminded to bring their jerseys tomorrow!

Friday June 13

• Last day for Canteen is on Monday. Only snack items are left. Please pack a lunch next week. 
• Don’t forget to bring back your activity day permission forms junior highs. The last day to bring your movie form is this Monday June 16th! Make your movie and drink selection through Powerschool. No form means you stay at school instead.

• The Slo-Pitch team wrap-up party will take place on Tuesday, June 17th from 11:30-12:30. We will also be taking our team picture at the start of the party, so make sure you bring your jersey if you haven’t returned it yet.
• Junior High students and teachers, please remember that block 1 will be ending early today at 9:00am and block 2 will be extended. This is for the grade 9s who will be writing their Math exam during block two and need the extra time. Students are asked to hurry to their block 2 class so the exam can begin on time.

Thursday June 12

• Grade 9 Math PAT Part A is tomorrow. All block 1 classes will end at 9:00am to move to block 2 a bit early. Please be prepared.

• There will be a track and field practice for all qualified athletes today during lunch. There will be a high jump and relay practice for all athletes who qualified for these events on Friday during lunch! If you are on the intermediate boys, senior boys or intermediate girls relay teams this practice is mandatory!!

Thursday June 5

• Congratulations to all the athletes on an amazing day at zones yesterday, you all did amazing! Huge shout out to the 33 athletes who placed either 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their event to qualify for cities on Monday June 9th!

• A reminder that this month is National Indigenous Peoples History Month.  For this month we will be doing activities each week.  This week we are focusing on our Land Acknowledgement.  Additionally, posters have been placed around the school with information about Indigenous People of interest.  Please check them out.

Tuesday June 3

• Any Semester 1 Art students who had work displayed in fine arts night, please come and get your art from Mrs. Novak in the art room by Tuesday JUNE 10

• The AJM Slo-Pitch team has their first playoff game tomorrow after school. It is a home game against the Sir John Thompson Tritons. Make plans to come on out and cheer on the team! The game starts at 4:15pm.
• Any track and field athletes who are going to zones and didn’t get their singlets please come to the gym at lunch.

Tuesday May 27

• Tonight is the JH Fine Arts Night.  Teachers please refer to the email sent last week about rehearsal schedule for today as there may be some students who will have to miss class. Band students, a schedule for rehearsals is posted on the band room door.
• Grade 9s!!! If you are interested in being involved in the Farewell mass in June, please attend a meeting TODAY at 12:05pm in Ms. Howes’ room for more information and to sign up for a role.
• If you are in Mrs. Pops grade 7 business class, please go see her at the beginning of lunch today. 
• Short meeting at 12:05 for Gathering Circle Students in Mrs. Baniak’s room today.  Come have a snack!
• Elementary students interested in doing Pagoda art for Asian Heritage Month, go to Mrs. Chaves room 2-15 at 12:05 PM today. Bring your pencils, pencil crayons and markers.

• Mrs. Swinnerton would like to thank the Kindergarten and Grade One students (Dakhari, Matias, Mason, Ethan, Adrielle, Gavin, Joshua B) who volunteered their time on their day off to get the Kinder-garden ready for planting this week. They were very disappointed to find that the lilies they had been growing had been dug up and that students have continued to play in the area, adding dead dandelions and other debris to the boxes.
• As a reminder, the garden remains OFF LIMITS. This means there should be no students in the area before, during, or after school unless accompanied by Mrs. Swinnerton or Mr. Mendez.

Friday May 16

• This is a reminder that this weekend is May Long Weekend! There is no school for the next 4 days! Our next day back is Wednesday, May 21.

• The AJM Slo-Pitch team had an away game yesterday against S. Bruce Smith Public School. It was a close game until the final inning where the Mavericks 16 runs to win the game by a score of 23-4. The team will now prepare for the final game of the season which is a home game on Monday, May 26.
• • Because of the rain and poor field conditions, the Slo-Pitch practice for today has been cancelled!

• Our most recent Storm Production here at MMM, The Three Musketeers, is up for Acting and Tech awards from the Alberta Youth Theatre Collective (AYTC). The announcement of nominees will be after school tomorrow, May 13th, at 3:30pm. 
• We would like to invite any and all future Grade 10 students who might be interested in auditioning for future shows to come join us for this exciting celebration and meet the current cast and crew. 
• Following the Awards Nominations, the Stage Management Team will be announcing next year’s musical and giving information about the audition process.

Thursday May 8

• This is a reminder that junior high students are required to leave their backpacks in their lockers at lunch and lunch recess. They are not to be left in the hallways, the pods, or near the outside doorways while students are outside. If this continues to happen, then backpacks will be taken to the lost and found or the office for students to find.
• Congratulations to the Badminton Team on their amazing performance yesterday at the City Finals! All athletes played hard and made our school proud!  We captured the team bronze medal in our division, and our girls doubles - Irene and Jasmine - captured gold!  

Wednesday May 7

• Today is “Hats On For Mental Health” Day. Thank you to everyone who is wearing a hat today.

• Last year, the AJM Slo-Pitch team lost in the City Finals to STM. Yesterday we had a chance for redemption as we started our slo-pitch season with a home game against STM. With the help of a few home runs and some great defensive play, AJM took the win by a score of 10-5!

Monday May 5

• Skills Alberta Fieldtrip is on Wednesday, 8 spots remain! Remember to wear close toed shoes and pants to participate in many of the activities.
• Wednesday is Hats on for Mental Health (wear your best hats!) 
• May is Asian Heritage Month! Elementary students who are interested in making some origami to celebrate it can come to Mrs Chaves room Tuesday at lunch recess. Bring a pencil.
• The AJM Slo-Pitch Team starts off their season today with a home game against STM. Good luck Mavs!
• Volleyball open gym today for grade 9s only.
• This week is Mental Health Week! To kick off this week, we will be ending broadcast with a video.

Friday May 2

• Reminder to junior high students that you are not in any of the pod areas in the hallways including near study hall. If you are in study hall you go into room 1-4

• Congratulations to our AJM Badminton Team.  We placed first in Girls' singles, Boys' singles, and Mixed Doubles, second in Girls' Doubles, and third in Boys' Doubles. Please wish us well as we head onto cities!
• Reminder for pitchers on the Slo-Pitch team that there is a practice at lunch today. Bring your lunch and meet in the gym.
• Intramurals today will be the bombshells vs the Beta’s and the Falling Pineapples vs the Munchies
• May marks the month for the Moose hide Campaign.  Moose hide is a symbol of taking a stand against violence and undoing the effects of Residential Schools.The campaign is grounded in Indigenous ceremony and traditional ways of learning and healing. A cornerstone of the Moose Hide Campaign is the moose hide pin. Wearing the pin signifies your commitment to honour, respect, and protect the women and children in your life and speak out against gender-based and domestic violence.  Please see Mrs. Baniak if you would like to get a pin to wear.

Thursday May 1

• Today is Leadership Appreciation Day, which is a day we thank our school leaders for all they do for us. If you see Mr. Chichak, Ms. Benoit, or Mrs. Pichette please make sure you thank them and show your appreciation for their dedication to your learning and growth!
